gratitude.

"If one hundred people represented the world's population, fifty-three of those would live on less than $2 a day. Do you realize that if you make $4,000 a month you automatically make one hundred times more than the average person on this planet? Simply by purchasing this book you spent what majority of people in the world will make in a week"
-Francis Chan, Crazy Love

Let's be honest right now, we all get so caught up on the material, how much we're making, what brand we're wearing, etc. etc. that we forget to stop and realize how good we have it compared to many other places in the world. Clean water, electricity, Target runs for last minute needs. We have so many amenities at are fingertips and don't realize what a luxury it is.

Maybe it's living out of two suitcases and a carry on that really has me thinking about what's actually necessary. Shoot, I'm already thinking about things I can mail home 'cause they really aren't essential to my life and I didn't need to bring them (Mom, I'll let you know when you should be expecting packages!!)

So next time you're complaining, show your gratitude. When you're bored with nothing to do, help those in need. Leaving a restaurant with leftovers? Give it to someone who can appreciate. It's moments like those when it's most rewarding.

'Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.' When he [the rich man] heard this, he became very sad, because he was a man of great wealth. Jesus looked at him and said, 'How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!'...'What is impossible with man is possible with God'"
-Luke 18:22-24, 27
